10 WAYS TO IGNORE NEGATIVE COMMENTS

Saturday, January 21, 2023

  1. Greetings Earthlings, Happy reading!

Acknowledge the comment but don't let it define you. For instance, if someone says something negative about you, simply thank them for their opinion and move on without letting it affect your self-worth. As Amaka Imani Nkosazana put it: “If someone doesn't care to accept you, respect you, believe in you, don't hesitate to move on and let them go. There are many who love and appreciate you just the way you are.”

  2. Focus on the positive aspects of your life and what you have achieved. Don't dwell on the negative and focus your energy on those who see you for who you are and appreciate you for it. This is like training a muscle; the more you focus on the positive, the stronger and more resilient it becomes. Each time you turn away from the negative and towards the positive, it's like a small workout that makes the ‘positive muscle’ stronger.

  3. Remember that you have the power to choose how you react to these comments. This is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy. By refocusing your thoughts and concentrating on the positive, you can condition yourself to respond more positively to negative comments or situations. Over time, this can help to build emotional resilience and increase your overall happiness. As Roy T. Bennett once wrote: “You cannot control the behavior of others, but you can always choose how you respond to it.”

  4. Don't take the comment personally or give it any energy. Instead, channel that energy into something positive that will bring you closer to your goals. As Roy T. Bennett once wrote: “What other people think and say about you is none of your business. The most destructive thing you could ever do is believe someone else's opinion of you. You have to stop letting other people's opinions control you.”

  5. Surround yourself with positive people and positive thoughts. Seek encouragement and support from those who will lift you up rather than weigh you down. As Oprah Winfrey once said: “Surround yourself only with people who are going to take you higher.”

  6. Engage in activities that make you feel good. Fill your life with experiences that bring joy and valuable lessons, and you will be well on your way to personal success. Albert Schweitzer once said: “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”

  7. Remember that the person making the comment may be projecting their own insecurities. Therefore, it is important to keep a healthy distance and perspective when dealing with such situations.

  8. Take a break from social media or other platforms where the comment was made. However, it is also important to stand up for yourself when someone is making hurtful comments. If the comments are coming from a place of ignorance, you have the opportunity to educate the person. If the comments are coming from a place of malice, you can report the person to the platform where the comments were made.

  9. Find an outlet for your feelings such as writing, painting, or talking with friends. Moreover, focus on positive comments and don't dwell on the negative ones; it is not worth the time and energy.

  10. Reach out to a professional if you feel like negative comments are affecting your mental health. For example, talking to a therapist can help you understand and process your feelings in a healthy way.
