21 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR MORNING

Thursday, January 19, 2023

HAPPY NEW CYCLE,  I'm excited to share not just my lifestyle but so much more content and context with my lovely readers. In the morning, do you have a hard time getting going? Jump-starting your day can be difficult, but there are strategies you can use to make it easier. Just think of it as a race against your snooze button.

According to research, around 40% of men and 50% of women identify as morning people. To make the most of the morning hours, it is important to consider ways to capitalize on this time and make it your most productive. Ways to improve your morning include getting enough sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, creating a morning routine, and starting the day with an activity you enjoy. Additionally, it's important to set realistic goals and prioritize tasks so that you can make the most of your morning hours. An important aspect of making the most of your mornings is to identify what works best for you and then implement it into your daily routine. This will help you maximize your productivity and ensure that you start your day off on the right foot.

Here are 21 things you can try:

  1. Get up early – Rise with the sun and start your day with a sense of accomplishment. This will give you a feeling of empowerment and will set the stage for the rest of your day. Wake up early and capitalize on the sun's energy to begin your day with a feeling of success.

  2. Stretch and move – A few simple stretches and a short walk can get your body moving and your mind ready for the day. It will help improve circulation and flexibility, increase energy and focus, and reduce stress. So, take a few minutes in the morning to stretch out your muscles and enjoy a brisk walk around your neighborhood.

  3. Drink water – Start your day with a tall glass of water to help hydrate your body and jumpstart your metabolism. Water helps flush out toxins and carries nutrients to your cells. According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day, and women should drink about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day. So, drink up and get ready to tackle the day!

  4. Enjoy a healthy breakfast – Eating breakfast gives you the energy to start your day and nourishes your body. It is important to choose healthy options like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and proteins like eggs or yogurt. Eating a healthy breakfast can also help you stay hydrated, as many foods contain water or other fluids.

  5. Take your vitamins – Taking a multivitamin or various supplements can help provide you with the nutrients your body needs. Taking a multivitamin or various supplements can help provide you with the nutrients your body needs. Additionally, certain vitamins, such as vitamin D, can help boost your immune system and keep you healthy. 57.6% of Americans aged 20 and over have used a dietary supplement in the past 30 days, while overall usage grows higher as age increases. Additionally, 25.59% more women use supplements than men.

  6. Listen to music – Put on a favorite playlist to get you in a positive and productive mood. Listening to music can help you focus, relax, combat stress, and even boost your mood. It can also help you stay motivated and energized, so you can tackle your tasks with enthusiasm and gusto.

  7. Meditate or do yoga – Take a few minutes to clear your mind and relax your body. Focusing on your breathing and clearing your thoughts can help you stay focused and productive on the task at hand. This is like preparing the soil before planting a garden. Clearing out weeds and debris and adding nourishment to the soil helps ensure that the plants will be healthy and thriving. Likewise, taking the time to meditate or do yoga can help to clear the mental “weeds” and help us stay focused and productive.

  8. Read something inspirational – Get inspired by reading a quote or passage that resonates with you. Get inspired by reading a book or article that speaks to you. Reading can give you a new perspective on life, open your eyes to new possibilities, and help you gain clarity on where you want to go next.

  9. Make your bed – Starting your day with a made bed can set the tone for a productive day. Starting your day with a made bed can help you feel more organized and in control. It can also give you a sense of accomplishment, as you have already done something productive. Additionally, having a neat and tidy bed can help with relaxation and sleep quality, making it easier for you to go back to sleep if you wake up in the middle of the night. Additionally, making your bed in the morning can help to create a calming atmosphere in your bedroom. A cluttered, unmade bed can make you feel anxious or overwhelmed, while a neat, made bed can provide a sense of calm and peace. This can help you focus on the tasks of the day and create a more positive outlook.

  10. Set an intention for the day – Decide what you want to accomplish and focus on that throughout the day. For example, you might set an intention to be present in each moment and to be kind to yourself and others, or to focus on what you're grateful for throughout the day.

  11. Make a to-do list – Writing down tasks and goals will help you stay organized and on track. A to-do list can provide clarity and focus so that you can prioritize what needs to be done and stay productive.

  12. Take a shower – A shower will help you feel refreshed and energized for the day. Taking a shower and practicing good hygiene is like putting on armor for the day – you’re preparing yourself for whatever challenges you face.

  13. Practice good hygiene – Make sure to brush your teeth, comb your hair, and put on deodorant.

  14. Prepare meals ahead of time – Plan and prepare meals for the week ahead so you can grab and go in the morning. Meal-prepping is a great way to save time and energy during the week. It can help you stay on track with your nutrition goals and ensure you have healthy meals throughout the week.

  15. A smile is a great way to start your day - Get up in the morning with a positive attitude and come into the world with a smiling face. Smiling releases endorphins, which can lift your mood and reduce stress. Writing down your thoughts can help to release emotional tension, clear your mind and ultimately help you to focus on the task ahead.

  16. Journal – Writing down your thoughts and feelings can be a powerful way to start the day. Many famous historical figures, including Leonardo da Vinci, Mark Twain, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, and Marie Curie, are known for journaling.

  17. Exercise – Get your body moving and your heart pumping with a morning workout. Exercise can help to reduce stress, boost your energy levels, and improve your overall health and well-being. Try to find activities that you enjoy, such as walking, running, yoga, or cycling. You can also try strength training, or even dance classes, to get your heart rate up and your body moving.

  18. Take a moment to enjoy nature – Step outside and take in the fresh air, the birds chirping, and the sun rising. Go for a walk in the park, breathe in the scent of flowers, and enjoy the sunshine. Taking the time to appreciate nature can help to reduce stress and improve your overall well-being.

  19. Connect with people – Reach out to friends and family to stay connected and build relationships. Talk to them about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and listen to what they have to say. Making meaningful connections with others can help to reduce stress, build trust, and improve your overall mental health.

  20. Get organized – Clear up clutter in your home to create a more calm environment. Set up an organizational system that works for you, whether it's a filing system, a calendar, or a to-do list. Having everything in its place will help reduce your stress and let you focus on what really matters. But if all else fails, it's totally acceptable to just throw everything in a box and label it "Miscellaneous"!

  21. Make time for yourself – Take a few moments to do something you enjoy, such as reading a book or listening to music. Your body will be able to relax and unwind as a result of this. When our body is relaxed and we are in a state of rest, our stress hormones decrease and our body can repair itself more efficiently. This improved physical and mental health will help you be more productive and better able to handle stress when it arises. Block out me-time each week (or every two weeks). If you have children, a partner, or other crucial responsibilities, claim a block of time every week to have time for yourself away from your everyday life and busy schedule. The relaxation technique was invented in the 1920s by Edmund Jacobson as a way to help his patients deal with anxiety. The technique involves tightening one muscle group while keeping the rest of the body relaxed and then releasing the tension.
