GREATNESS AWAITS WHEN YOU ELIMINATE FEAR

Monday, June 29, 2020

If you’ve ever doubted your abilities, here’s the sign that you’ve you been looking for that you should stop, immediately. The things we think we can’t accomplish we won’t. The things we think we can we will. This might sound a bit hypothetical of me because I didn’t think I would finish what I started over 10 years ago. If I didn't actually live it, I wouldn't be able to tell you that your thoughts are indeed very powerful. Attaining my degree was a fun, but also a nerve-racking journey. The thought alone gave me serious anxieties. When I started this journey sixteen years ago, I did it because it seemed like the right thing to do. I was fresh out of high school. Oh gosh, thinking back has me feeling really old!

Yup, its no secret, I’m one of those people who took an extended break. Mentally, I didn't feel prepared so, I dropped out, with all intentions of hopefully finishing up later on in life. I didn’t really put a timeframe on when I would like to complete my degree, but I knew ultimately I wanted to walk across that stage with my head held high, proud as hell that I accomplished such a pivotal milestone. Unfortunately, for me, I was robbed of the experience. I chose not to walk when I completed high school and now that I've completed my bachelor's with the pandemic, I'm unable to walk across the stage as I hoped. I was really bummed about this at first. At the end of the day what really matters is that I did it. I finished what I started, Yay, me! I didn’t allow fear, doubt, and anxiety to kick my butt.

I was really disappointed that I didn't receive my grad package on time for our virtual ceremony, then I found out the ceremony would be prerecorded, what a bummer. I felt like my efforts weren't being celebrated and money invested wasn't being put to use. Fortuitous for me I have a few chums who are always ready to celebrate every milestone.

On the day of the virtual ceremony, I had a photoshoot in mind that I wanted to get done to capture the moment the best way I could. As the day progressed my plans kept changing, I flipped flopped with the idea of the photoshoot. I was exhausted from staying up all night making my dress and fatigue sapped my drive to bring my idea to life. At the very last minute, I decided to just take the darn pictures. When you have pictures, you have lasting memories. As I was getting in the shower I received a text from my friend asking me to join her outside. I almost ignored the messages because I was fully undressed and really just wanted to take a shower, to get ready for the shoot. The sun was setting and I was running out of time. Then she called, I thought maybe it was urgent due to the conversation we had earlier that day. I caved and decided to join her outside, I was greeted with another person, who is also a mutual friend, balloons, a cake, roses, lots of love, and laughter. They really surprised me, I had no idea they were making these plans.

I started the day wishing things were different, I'm so grateful for how the day actually played out. It was epic!
Dear friends, I appreciate the way you guys love and support me. Life is a journey, we can use the situations and people around us to master life, or we can make the situation and people around us triumph over us. You guys have taught me that the goodness in me has not been in vain. The relationships I've encountered taught me that expectations can be the thief of one's joy. When you expect things, God might have a greater plan and the things we expect might not be apart of his plans. I've also learned that the people we invest time and energy in, might not reciprocate it, and that's fine. The sooner this is accepted the easier life becomes. We have to get to grips with the task that God gives us which is to give love, kindness, and great vibes always.
